Welcome to the Norwood Little Athletics Club
Norwood club is one of the original clubs at the South Launceston Little Athletics Centre.

We are committed to offering a safe happy environment for Athletes to compete in, promoting the Family Fun & Fitness message for everyone involved. We have a continued close association with Norwood Primary School where many of our past and present athletes have attended.

Scotch Oakburn and St Thomas More’s are our other primary feeder schools where a number of our younger athletes attend.

Parent involvement is essential to the running of the club with many of our parents having roles on the committee and being officials and coaches. Any new parents will be supported with attending coaching and officials courses.

Training

Norwood Club training in on Wednesdays from 5pm -6pm at South Launceston Football Club grounds.

Training is not compulsory but is strongly encouraged to assist athletes to build confidence and improve their overall performance.

Club Uniform

Our club uniform is either a white polo or a singlet top with navy trim and navy shorts.

The club have a supply of tops which can be purchased from our Team Manager. Shorts can be purchased from most sports shops or school stockists.

Club Awards

Norwood encourages all athletes to participate, have fun and do their best.

The Trevor Heathcote Award is presented to an Under 13 Athlete who has represented Norwood in Little Athletics for the most years and has shown leadership and sportsmanship qualities within the club.

End of Season Break-up

Each year to conclude the season we hold a break-up event. This is to celebrate the season and to present a participation trophy to all athletes and awards to the winners.

TLAA State Team

Each year all Under 13 and Under 15 Athletes have the opportunity to be selected as part of the Tasmanian State Team for the Australian Little Athletics Championships. These championships are held in a different state each year and are a great experience for those athletes lucky enough to be selected.

In season 2018/19 Norwood was represented in the U15 State Team by Amy Campbell.

Norwood also had two athletes compete in the Australian National Athletics Championships in Sydney (2018/19): Will Bottle U14 and Amy Campbell U15
