Centre Championships

South Launceston have two types of championship events in which our athletes run, jump and throw for medals.

South Launceston Little Athletics Centre conducts two types of Championships open to all athletes:

  • 1 x Combined Event Championship
  • 3 x Program Championships (Program 1, 2, and 3)

To be eligible for Centre Championships, athletes must:

  • be registered with the South Launceston Little Athletics Centre (SLLAC)
  • wear the correct Centre uniform

COMBINED EVENTCHAMPIONSHIP

The events for the Combined Event Championship comprises the following events:

  • Girls
    • U6-U7 Sprint hurdles, 100m, 200m, long jump, shot put
    • U8 Sprint hurdles, 200m, 400m, long jump, shot put
    • U9 –U12 Sprint hurdles, 200m, 800m, long jump, shot put
    • U13-U15 Sprint hurdles, 200m, 800m, long jump, shot put, high jump, javelin
  • Boys
    • U6-U7 Sprint hurdles, 100m, 200m, long jump, discus
    • U8 Sprint hurdles, 100m, 400m, long jump, discus
    • U9 –U12 Sprint hurdles, 100m, 800m, long jump, discus
    • U13-U15 Sprint hurdles, 100m, 800m, long jump, discus, high jump, javelin

Tiny Tots do not record scores or be awarded places but will participate in the following events: Sprint hurdles, 100m, long jump, shot put, and discus.

Athletes are awarded points for their respective performances. The points for all events are added together, and the athlete with the highest number of points is deemed the winner. Athletes must participate in or finish all events to be eligible for a total points score.

Medals are awarded for positions 1-3 and ribbons for positions 4-8. Competed ribbons are provided for all other athletes.

PROGRAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

In addition to the above eligibility criteria for Centre Championships, athletes must compete twice in each event at SLLAC to be eligible for that event at Program Championships.

Medals are awarded for positions 1-3 and ribbons for positions 4-8 in each event.

70m, 100m, 150m, 200m, and hurdles usually have heats and finals; 400m, 800m, 1500m, and racewalking are timed finals. The following athletes shall progress to the final in their fully laned event:

  • 2 heats: 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each heat plus the next 2 fastest times
  • 3 heats: 1st and 2nd in each heat plus the next two fastest times
  • 4 or more heats: 1st in each heat with the remaining lanes filled by the next fastest times
